 Explosive Emotion
mixed media 122cm x 120cm -
This is the first seminal piece for my painting here in Spennymoor. The best way of describing it is as industrial expressionism. I loved the freedom and relative minimal palette range. The subject matter is inspired from the local stone buildings castles and cathedrals. The essence of their drama and glory is conveyed rather than giving a literal portrayal.
| Musical City-Scapemixed media and acrylic 122 x 120cm - This is another journey, where the key is in the blue texture… is it water? Is it reflection? This is also a composition of rythme whereby even the lines tend to lend themselves to a musical scoresheet. Is it a boat scene or city scape ? Or perhaps all three? This painting hopefully reflects the scope of my intention for the viewer. Each to his own journey through the painting. | City Abstract(tar, acrylic and glue) 40 x 30 cm-
The underlying intention was to harmonise the verticles and horizontals. The material quality interplays with the mark making into a relatively straight forward composition of rhyme. There is a hint yet again of water, bridges and shimmering buildings in the landscape.
